A 29-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday for the possession of drugs.
The police said on Wednesday the man was arrested in Nicosia after he was pulled over on Tuesday at 12.20pm.
After the man refused a narcotest, the police searched the vehicle and found 2g of cannabis in the glove compartment.
In an effort to avoid arrest, the man pushed the two police officers present and started to run away, throwing things away while doing so.
While pursuing the suspect, two warning shots were fired.
The man was soon arrested and the police found that the objects discarded were pouches of cocaine weighing a total of 30g.
A search of his vehicle led to five mobile phones, a further 30g of cannabis and €4,770 in cash.
All items were confiscated.
Police investigations are ongoing.
