Cold weather with rain, isolated storms and snow in the higher mountains has been forecast by the met office for Thursday and Friday.

Temperatures will rise to 15C inland and in coastal areas and to 5C in Troodos.

At night, they are expected to drop to 3C inland and 10C near the coast while frost will form in mountainous and hilly areas.

The stormy and rainy weather will last until Friday afternoon.

On Saturday, temperatures are expected to rise, reaching levels close to what is average for late January.

The height of snow on Troodos square was two centimetres on Thursday morning.
