The attorney-general asked the chief of police on Monday to immediately launch an investigation into claims of match fixing in the third division.

The case concerns a report by the chairman of Olympiada Lympion to the sports ethics and protection committee that footballers belonging to his team and officials of the third division league, were engaging in match fixing and illegal betting.

In his letter, attorney-general Giorgos Savvides is asking the chief of police to order an immediate probe into the claims and forward the case file to his office when finished.
