Police confiscated 22,745 crackers and fireworks on Tuesday in Nicosia, subsequently arresting a 22-year-old man.

According to police, acting on information, around 4.30 pm on Tuesday, officers searched two vehicles owned by the suspect which were parked in an open area in the capital where they said they found 20,745 crackers and 2,000 fireworks.

The 22-year-old was arrested for illegal possession of explosives.
