Whatever happened to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen?

For those who came of age in the Nineties or early 2000s, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were part of pop culture’s most iconic figures, thanks to their movie career, sitcom roots, and role-model popularity with teenage girls.

But since then, they’ve disappeared from the acting spotlight to pursue other things in life – such as high fashion. In 2014, the siblings went public with their decision to step away from the camera, explaining that they had other ventures in mind. “With what we were doing in business when we were younger… I don’t think it ever felt like we were actresses,” Mary-Kate told ‘Women’s Wear Daily’.

Today, their younger sister Elizabeth Olsen is lighting up the screen instead, and with the recent release of the ‘WandaVision’ series, she is at the centre of the superhero universe.
