A 59-year-old man from France died on Sunday after the buggy he was in with his daughter, 20, fell off a cliff in the Akamas area and then into the sea.

The young woman is in serious condition in hospital.

The accident occurred at around 3.20 pm when the buggy fell off a 150-metre cliff and into the sea, police said.

The woman was found on the rocks but the man fell with the vehicle into the sea. He was rescued by the marine police that transferred him to the Latchi harbour. An ambulance picked him up and took him to the Polis Chrysochous hospital where he was pronounced dead.

His daughter, who was found at around 70 metres down the cliff, was rescued by the fire service and was taken to the Paphos general hospital. Her condition is serious, police said.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
