It may not be a bee’s life but it’s certainly a bee’s world that we are living in as thanks to these insects we can enjoy honey, flowers, plants and countless other things. A family business in Vavla village, Larnaca looks after the bee kingdom, specialises in producing bee products and often holds educational workshops. One upcoming workshop this Sunday is a natural cosmetic making workshop using beeswax ointment.
When first arriving at Ecophysis Bee and Nature Centre participants and visitors usually begin by watching two documentaries on the life and importance of bees as well as the threats they face. A short discussion usually follows specifically about the properties of beeswax on the skin at the centre’s educational hall. Exactly this is what will happen at Sunday’s workshop and straight after visitors will watch and participate in the whole process of producing traditional beeswax ointment. Concluding the workshop, participants will have the chance to try all batches of honey produced in the last year as well as other beekeeping or processing products such as natural beeswax ointments and soaps made with honey or beeswax.
Funded by the deputy ministry of tourism, a similar workshop also took place earlier in August and it returns now for its final two sessions. The first workshop will take place between 11am and 1pm and the second one will be at 3pm.
