No other Covid-19 variants of concern were detected except from the Delta variant that continues to be dominant in the Republic, the health ministry said on Saturday.

According to the ministry, based on the tests on samples collected between August 16 and September 18, the strain B.1.617.2 (Delta variant) was detected in all 211 samples on which there was successful sequencing.

These samples were collected both in public health centres and private labs in all districts.

“None of the new variants of interest or concern such as the Mu mutation, has been detected in Cyprus yet,” the health ministry said.

According to the data the ministry provided, the Delta variant has been fully dominant in the Republic between June 28 and September 18. The British variant was dominant between last March and mid-June, according to the ministry’s data.
