The health ministry announced that two people had died of Covid-19 and that 508 had tested positive from 75,844 PCR and rapid tests, a positivity rate of 0.67 per cent.
The deaths concerned a woman aged 82 and a man aged 75. The woman died on Friday at Larnaca hospital and the man on Saturday at Nicosia General. Total deaths now stand at 619 since March 2020 with the average age being 75.8 years old.
There are 177 people in hospitals of whom 59 are in serious condition. Of these, 21 are intubated.
The ministry said that the percentage of unvaccinated patients was 79.6 per cent.
Of the 75,844 tests on Saturday, 9,501 were PCR) and 66,343 rapid tests, yielding 508 positives as follows:
- 31 from 5,365 samples at airports
- 135 from 3,880 samples taken through private initiative.
- 21 from 240 samples tested at hospital labs
- 212 from 46,576 tests at private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 109 from 19,767 rapid tests under the ministry’s free programme
