Cypriot ophthalmologist, Dr Theodoros Potamitis has been selected to be a specialty examiner for the UK’s Royal College of Ophthalmology examinations.

After receiving the invitation from the Royal College of Ophthalmology to be an examiner in its specialty exams, Dr Potamitis carried out this responsibility for the first time in Oxford last month.

Dr Potamitis, who is the director and a vitro-retinal surgeon in Pantheo Eye Centre in Limassol, was appointed College Examiner by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists examination committee.

The exams take place three times per year and constitute the final part of the training of a doctor specialising in ophthalmology. Doctors from the UK and other parts of the world sit this exam to qualify as a specialist ophthalmologist.

The Royal College of Ophthalmology exams are the pinnacle of ophthalmological training and considered among the toughest and most testing worldwide.

Examiners are chosen based on their merits and experience in their field. The selection of a Cypriot doctor to be an examiner is not only a distinction for Pantheo Eye Centre, but for the entire Cypriot medical community.
