The fire which broke out near the Limassol district villages of Souni and Zanatzia is “manageable”, fire brigade spokesman Andreas Kettis said on Monday.
The fire had broken out shortly after 11am, with around five hectares of trees and wild vegetation having been burnt.
Kettis said a number of properties have also been damaged in the fire, but that work is being done to halt its spread.
“The final extinguishments are being done. Air support has been disengaged. Individual houses were protected during the fire, but a number of properties have been damaged,” he said.
He added that the recording of damage caused will be done at a later date by the competent authorities, and that the game service had also taken part in the fighting of the fire.
The police are now investigating the fire’s cause.
