The Limassol district court issued an eight-day detention order for a 47-year-old suspect, who was arrested on Sunday in connection with the discovery of over four kilos of drugs in Limassol.
His 41-year-old wife, who was also arrested during the operation by the Ykan drug squad, was released.
According to police, following a tip-off, officers had placed the suspect under surveillance and stopped a vehicle driven by his wife, with the suspect as a passenger, on Sunday afternoon.
A search revealed and confiscated 2.18 kilos of cannabis and 105 grams of cocaine. The 47-year-old was also found in possession of €1,165 in cash and three mobile phones.
Later on, in a search of an open area where the 47-year-old had been previously seen, police also found a bag with 1.9 kilos of cannabis and 1.9 kilos of cocaine, in a bush.
The suspect reportedly admitted his involvement, and the court ordered his detention to facilitate further police investigations.
