Police in Nicosia arrested two people, aged 36 and 29, wfor an investigated case of burglary and theft.

According to the police the crimes were committed between January 8 and 9, by unknown persons who broke into the warehouse of a building under construction and stole various power tools.

Investigations yielded testimony against the 29-year-old, based on which a court warrant was issued for his arrest.

Officers on patrol spotted the 29-year-old riding in a car driven by a second person in Nicosia on Wednesday. The police halted the vehicle and during a subsequent search, found tools inside, which are believed to be stolen.

Both the 29-year-old and the 36-year-old driver were arrested for possession of stolen property, while the 29-year-old was re-arrested pursuant to the court warrant that was pending against him.

The two were taken into custody for interrogation and are expected to appear before the Nicosia District Court for the issuance of a remand on Thursday.
