Larnaca District Court on Sunday remanded a 45-year-old man for eight days, after he was discovered carrying 19 kg of cannabis in his luggage at the airport the day before.
According to police, as part of the cooperation and coordinated actions of the police and the Customs Department, to identify persons importing drugs into the Republic, they proceeded to the seizure of a quantity of cannabis, weighing about 19 kilograms.
The drugs were found in the luggage of the 45-year-old, who arrived at Larnaca airport yesterday on a flight from abroad.
At around 6.30pm on Saturday, following a suggestion by members of the drug squad, Ykan, officers of the Customs Department at Larnaca Airport, searched the 45-year-old man, who had arrived on a flight from a European country. A search of the 45-year-old’s baggage revealed 37 packages containing dry cannabis plant material, weighing a total of 19 kilograms and 366 grams.
The man was arrested and was taken into custody.
On Sunday, the 45-year-old was brought before the Larnaca District Court, where he was remanded for eight days. The case is being investigated by the Ykan.
