Two individuals were rushed to Larnaca general hospital on Wednesday night after inhaling smoke during a fire in their second-floor apartment. The incident occurred in a block of flats in Larnaca.
The fire, reported at 9:49 pm, prompted an immediate response from the Larnaca fire service. According to fire service spokesperson Andreas Kettis, two fire engines were dispatched to tackle the blaze.
The fire originated in the kitchen and caused significant damage. Smoke from the fire also left marks on the walls and affected furniture throughout the apartment. Firefighters used water hoses and breathing apparatus to extinguish the flames and ventilate the building.
Two foreign residents of the flat were rescued by firefighters and handed over to paramedics. They were later transported to the accident and emergency department of Larnaca general hospital due to smoke inhalation.
Other residents of the building evacuated on their own before the situation escalated.
Authorities have not disclosed the cause of the fire, and investigations are ongoing.
