Authorities warned drivers on Saturday to exercise caution as icy conditions persist on roads in the Troodos mountains. While all routes remain open, the Kakopetria-Pedoulas, Pedoulas-Prodromos, and Prodromos-Troodos roads are particularly hazardous due to frost.
The police urged motorists to drive carefully and follow traffic regulations to prevent accidents. The slippery conditions pose a significant risk, especially in the early hours when temperatures are lowest.
Meanwhile, road closures are in effect in Limassol due to the Opap Limassol Marathon. From 8am to 12pm, the coastal road from the intersection of Spyrou Araouzou and Anexartisias streets to the traffic lights on 28th October and Griva Digeni, near the Crowne Plaza Hotel, will be closed to traffic.
Authorities have advised drivers to use alternative routes and allow extra travel time to avoid disruptions. The police emphasised the importance of adhering to traffic signs and instructions to maintain road safety.
Motorists heading to the affected areas should remain alert, adjust their speed to road conditions, and keep a safe distance from other vehicles. The public is encouraged to stay updated on traffic reports for any further changes.
