A new mascot for the Thalia 2021–2027 cohesion policy programme was unveiled by the finance ministry on Tuesday, aiming to bring its projects closer to the public.
The ministry said the digital character, also named Thalia, will feature in a series of six animated videos explaining the programme’s aims and impact.
The mascot represents a programme “that invests in the future of Cyprus and its people”, the ministry said.
The name derives from the Greek verb meaning to flourish and reflects goals of progress and prosperity.
Officials said the name also draws on key themes of the programme, including change, prosperity, equality and development.
The programme, co-funded by the European Union, supports projects to boost competitiveness, promote green and digital transition, improve connectivity and strengthen social inclusion.
Through the videos, the mascot will present how these projects impact daily life, from supporting innovation and business to improving infrastructure, education and employment.
The ministry said the videos will be available on the programme’s website and social media platforms.
