Police arrested a 64-year-old man in Larnaca on Wednesday after finding 60 firecrackers in his possession.

The man was pulled over by police officers at around 11am and found two packages containing a total of 60 firecrackers inside the vehicle.

The driver, a resident of the Nicosia district, was taken to Oroklini police station, where he was questioned and charged in writing.

Authorities later released the man, who will be summoned before a court at a later date.

The firecrackers were seized as evidence.

Police investigations continue.
