The third day of competition at the 20th Mediterranean Games “Taranto 2026” added three medals to Cyprus’ tally, with Savvia Chatzicharalambous winning silver in Canoe/Kayak, while Constantia Nicolaou and Nikolas Vasiliou claimed bronze medals in Shooting. Cyprus’ overall medal tally now stands at two silver and two bronze medals.
According to the Cyprus Olympic Committee (COC), Chatzicharalambous secured Cyprus’ best result in Canoe/Kayak by winning silver in the individual K1 500m event.
“My first feeling was happiness because this is my first medal at such a major event and something I really wanted. I also felt a great sense of satisfaction because I felt very good throughout the race and believe I gave my best,” Chatzicharalambous said after receiving her medal.
“This medal means a lot to me and is certainly a great motivation to keep pushing forward. Of course, the reward is not only the medal, but today was a reminder that all the hard work throughout the year was worth it,” she added.
