A 26-year-old food delivery driver was assaulted on Sunday evening in Yermasoyia, Limassol, and four people have been arrested. Another courier managed to get away shortly afterwards and a third was assaulted in Mouttayiaka.

The police said that at around 8.25pm approximately ten people attacked the courier, who was riding a motorcycle, with bats and rocks.

The perpetrators stole the driver’s motorcycle, wallet and mobile phone, as well as other personal items, and fled the scene.

The police arrived at the scene and became aware of a group of people moving aggressively towards another delivery driver, who managed to get away on his motorcycle.

When the perpetrators saw the police, they fled the scene, however police officers managed to catch and arrest four of them – one aged 18, one 17 and two 16.

The 16-year-old was found with a credit card and was unable to give satisfactory explanations as to why it was in his possession. The 18-year-old was found with a spray device with harmful gas.

Evidence was obtained against the four in connection with the assault case. They will be taken before the Limassol district court on Monday for remand orders.

Meanwhile, the police are investigating another case of assault against a 26-year-old food delivery driver in Mouttayiaka.

The driver was delivering food at around 9.40pm in Mouttayiaka, when he was assaulted by an unknown number of people.
