Singer, songwriter Mary J. Blige this week got candid about how a new Amazon documentary ‘My Life’ on the making of one of her watershed albums, captures her heartbreak and transformation of that period.
“It was a time I didn’t want to live, I hated myself,” admits the Hip-hop and Soul star. “The beauty is that I’ve lived to tell the story and now, I don’t hate myself. I’ve developed some love for myself.”
The film gives fans an intimate behind-the-scenes look into the recording process and impact of her confessional album (of the same name as the doc), which Blige released in November 29, 1994, via Uptown Records.
The documentary was released exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on Friday.
