The health ministry announced that two people had died of Covid-19 and that a record 1,925 had tested positive from 121,127 PCR and rapid tests, another record, which resulted in a positivity rate of 1.5 per cent.
The deaths concerned a woman aged 79 and a man aged 78. Total deaths are now 630.
There are 161 people in hospitals of whom 78 are in serious condition. Of these, 27 are intubated.
The ministry said that the percentage of unvaccinated patients was 80.75 per cent.
Of the 121,127 tests on Monday, 12,917 were PCR tests and 108,210 rapid tests, yielding 1,925 positives as follows:
164 from from 1,979 samples taken through contact tracing
44 from 5,626 samples taken at the airports
388 from 4,462 samples taken through private initiative.
13 from 502 samples tested at hospital labs
926 from 80,407 tests at private labs and pharmacies
384 from 27,803 samples under the health ministry’s free testing programme for children and eligible groups in various stages of vaccination
6 from 348 tests through GP referrals
