Five people died from coronavirus as another 2,482 new infections were traced after 61,364 tests in the past seven days, the health ministry announced on Friday.
The weekly report, for the dates September 9 to 15, showed a positivity rate of 4.04 per cent.
The new cases included 35 that were found in nursing homes, eight in closed facilities and ten in the national guard.
The remaining cases were detected through private rapid or PCR tests or though the health ministry’s free programmes for the general public.
As regards the deaths, those concerned three men, aged 78, 91 and 94 who died on September 9, 15 and 13 respectively, and two women, aged 86 and 94, who died on September 10 and 14.
There were also 47 hospitalisations. Of those, five refer to people in serious condition, including one who is intubated.
Three patients who stopped being infectious continue to be intubated due to the virus, the ministry said.
