A conference on gender and education policy and practices, organised by the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute, will take place on Friday at Nicosia’s Filoxenia Centre.
The opening speech will be delivered by House President Annita Demetriou. Education Minister Prodromos Prodromou is also set to address the participants.
As announced by the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute, the conference will aim to explore gender issues in the educational environment and in the broader Cypriot society.
“The conference is expected to provide a dynamic platform for the discussion of challenges and perspectives, involving academics, politicians, educators, experts, representatives of public bodies and non-governmental organisations,” the institute said.
“It will address diverse subjects, such as the role and importance of gender identities, equal opportunities, gender representations in society and in schools, sexism, homophobia and transphobia, and will make recommendations for promoting equality and addressing gender-based discrimination in the educational environment.”
