Limassol police are investigating an assault and theft involving a 64-year-old man who was allegedly lured to the scene by a young girl, it emerged on Wednesday.
According to the police, the 64-year-old reported that on Tuesday night, shortly before midnight, he was visited in his hotel room by a young girl whom he had met several months ago, who proposed they go out for dinner.
On the way to a fast-food restaurant near the hotel, the girl allegedly drove the man to a dead-end street, where her 15-year-old friend, also known to the 64-year-old, was waiting.
The minor appeared about half an hour after midnight, accompanied by another girl and two men. One of the men reportedly sprayed the 64-year-old with chemicals and punched him in the face.
With the help of the others, they threw him to the ground and continued beating him. One of the assailants allegedly stole his wallet, which contained €5,500 in cash and his ID card.
The 15-year-old, along with her friends and the girl who had initially accompanied the man out of the hotel, then drove off in an unknown direction. The 64-year-old was taken to the hospital, where he was treated and released.
An arrest warrant is expected to be issued for the 15-year-old, and the police are seeking information about all those involved.
