The Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC) this week reported the registration of 16 bounced cheques worth €21,445 in November 2024.
This represents a significant drop compared to previous months, as well as the same period last year.
The preliminary list of the Central Information Register (CIR) for issuers of bounced cheques recorded nine entities in total, consisting of seven legal and two natural persons.
Comparatively, 33 bounced cheques totalling €60,851 were registered in November 2023, while in October 2024, the figure stood at 20 cheques worth €40,847.
From January to November 2024, a total of 268 bounced cheques amounting to €554,970 were recorded in the CIR’s preliminary list.
This represents a decrease from the 313 cheques valued at €1.6 million registered during the same period in 2023.
The final list for November 2024 included six entries—three legal entities and three natural persons associated with legal entities.
Over the 11-month period in 2024, the CIR registered 185 individuals, down from 249 during the same timeframe in 2023.
