Kicking off 2025’s classical music concert is this Cyprus Symphony Orchestra concert with the Prometheus String Quartet. Under the title Winter Dreams, two performances are scheduled for January. One in Paphos and another in Nicosia on January 11 and 12 respectively.

The Prometheus String Quartet has maintained rich concert activity in the field of classical music, both in Cyprus as well as abroad, including a number of very successful Cyprus premieres. On violin is Nikos Pittas and Iraklis Mitellas, on viola Nicolas Papageorgio and on cello Miranda Papaneocleous.

Winter Dreams – one of their four projects focusing on the four seasons – will take audiences on a dreamlike journey from Antonio Vivaldi’s Winter concerto to Astor Piazzolla’s Winter, travelling through popular works by various composers, infused with the colours and sensations of Winter.

These include Brahms’ Hungarian Dance no. 1, Rachmaninov’s Vocalise, Spanish Dance no. 5 by Granados and Sibelius’ Valse triste, arranged for string quartet. They will first perform in front of Paphos audiences, next Saturday at the Markideio Theatre, and then at Nicosia’s Pallas Theatre next Sunday.
