A truck fire in the early hours of Sunday morning was determined to be arson, police said, following the incident in Astromeritis, Nicosia.
According to police, at 4.30am, information about the fire was received and members of the police and fire brigade rushed to the scene. However, the fire in the truck had already been put out by its 53-year-old owner. The truck was parked in an open area behind the owner’s residence and was extensively damaged.
As determined by the initial police investigation, the fire was set on the vehicle maliciously, while a double cab parked next to it was surrounded by liquid, but was not set on fire.
The scene was cordoned off, and the police are continuing their investigations.
