A 76-year-old man wanted in Cyprus has been arrested in Germany in connection with online fraud involving extortion and money laundering, the police said on Friday.

A Larnaca resident reported that during August 2022 he purchased a tractor online for €150,000.

“However, after sending the money by wire transfer he never received the vehicle,” Larnaca police said.

The local authorities issued a European arrest warrant for the 76-year-old after Larnaca CID listed him as a wanted person.

The man was located and arrested on November 24 in Germany, while court proceeding approved the request for his extradition to Cyprus.

Larnaca police travelled to Germany to bring him back to Cyprus and he was arrested on arrival on Thursday.
