The department of road transport on Tuesday announced the recall of 425 Volvo vehicles due to an airbag replacement issue.

The recall was issued by Volvo’s manufacturer and communicated through local distributor CTC automotive, but has nothing to do with the recent Takata airbag recall.

However, owners are strongly advised to follow the ministry of transport’s December 2024 recommendation to avoid using affected vehicles. If this is not possible, they should take precautions to minimise risk, such as using alternative transport when available.

Owners of affected vehicles should contact CTC automotive for further instructions.

The full list of impacted registration numbers can be found on the department of road transport’s official website.
