The trial of three of the four suspects arrested in connection with an alleged attempted murder in the Larnaca village of Kornos will begin on March 12.

The trio, all males aged 26, 24, and 23, will all face charges of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, illegally possessing firearms, and illegally possessing explosives.

The fourth arrestee will be deported, after it was found he was living in Cyprus illegally.

Multiple shots were fired in an outdoor area in Kornos on January 9, with a 30-year-old hospitalised after the incident, after which he was briefly left in a critical condition.

The police currently believe that at around 2pm on January 9, the 30-year-old visited an area in the village with the aim of meeting people over the sale of a car.

There, he was approached by a vehicle, with four men, two of whom were allegedly armed with pistols, getting out.

The 30-year-old attempted to escape, but was shot several times, suffering injuries to his hand and shoulder blade.
