Larnaca district court issued a seven-day remand order against a man who was arrested after being caught with exactly €128,150 in cash and 442 grammes of cannabis on his person.

The police said the man had been arrested on Tuesday after being surrendered to them by the British bases police.

The arrest, they police said, was carried out in connection with the arrest of a man in 2023 in connection with cannabis-related offences.

A police search of the residence of the original arrestee, who was 37 years old at the time and is now 39, turned up a combined total of 4.5 kilogrammes of cannabis in various forms and 12 grammes of cocaine.

The police added that two men, aged 39 and 28, have already been convicted and sentenced after being arrested in connection with the same operation.

The 28-year-old was sentenced to nine years in prison, while the 39-year-old was sentenced to eight years in prison.

The police’s investigation into the matter is ongoing.
