A case of car arson overnight is being investigated by Limassol police on Friday.

The fire in a car belonging to a 49-year-old broke out at around 3am while the vehicle was parked in an open area next to the owner’s home in Ayios Athanasios.

The fire was extinguished by firefighters who in subsequent examinations at the scene determined it had been started maliciously. The rear of the car was extensively damaged.

CCTV footage also showed an individual approaching the vehicle on foot, setting it on fire, and leaving the scene.

The scene is under guard as the investigation continues.
