A 44-year-old man from Paphos was arrested for drink driving twice within the space of an hour on Wednesday evening, the police said on Thursday.
The man was first pulled over at around 8.15pm after being caught speeding, driving at 83km/h through a zone where the posted limit was 65km/h.
He underwent a roadside alcohol test and blew a reading of 74 micrograms per 100 millilitres (μg/100ml), almost four times over the legal limit of 22μg/100ml.
A subsequent test saw him blow a reading of 71μg/100ml.
One of his relatives was then called to take possession of the vehicle, and the man was released.
Then, an hour later, the same man was pulled over again by the police. On the second occasion, he blew a higher alcohol reading than the first time he had been pulled over, with a final reading of 79μg/100ml.
He was then arrested and taken into custody.
