A 15-year-old was remanded for 24 hours on Friday after he and his 13-year-old friend were allegedly found carrying flammable materials in Limassol.

The two boys were stopped by police after they were seen “moving suspiciously” on Ayias Fylaxeos Street. During a subsequent check, officers found two plastic bottles containing gasoline and a lighter in the possession of one of the teenagers.

Both were taken to the Ayios Ioannis police station, where their parents were summoned. The 15-year-old was arrested on suspicion of vagrancy and appeared before court later that morning, where he was remanded for one day.

As for the 13-year-old, authorities filed a case for insufficient supervision of a minor.
