Police seized dozens of kilos of untaxed tobacco products after stopping a man on the Paphos-Limassol motorway, an announcement said on Sunday.
According to the announcement, police stopped a car driven by a 42-year-old man near Timi, at around 9pm on Saturday, and in an investigation they found that he was transporting illegal tobacco products.
According to a police statement, the tobacco products were counted by an officer of the Customs Department and it was found that the 42-year-old was in possession of 23 kilos of shisha tobacco, one kilo of tobacco for cigarettes, 20 cartons of heated cigarettes, five cartons of cigarettes and a large sum of money.
The recovered items, as well as the 42-year-old’s vehicle, were seized by the Customs Department for further examination, it said.
