A 51-year-old man is being treated in Nicosia general hospital after colliding with two parked vehicles in Nicosia on Sunday afternoon while drunk driving.
Police said the man lost control of his car around 3pm while driving in the Potamia area, causing it to drift off course and collide with two cars parked at the side of the road.
A breathalyser test revealed that the driver had an alcohol level of 107μg, nearly five times the legal limit of 22μg.
He was transferred to Nicosia general hospital, where doctors discovered a ruptured spleen. He underwent emergency surgery and remains hospitalised.
The exact circumstances of the accident are being investigated by the Pera Chorio police station.
