A 49-year-old man has been arrested after police found a total of 188 barrels of diesel in his house, the police said on Friday.

The police had carried out a search of his house, which is located in the Limassol suburb of Yermasoyia, as part of an investigation into the suspected possession and trafficking of drugs.

Instead of drugs, the search turned up 188 barrels of diesel, some of which were 20 litres in volume, and others were 30 litres.

The man could not, according to the police, provide an adequate explanation for the diesel’s origin, and was as such arrested.

The police’s investigation into the matter is ongoing.
