Three people were arrested on Sunday in central Nicosia during a large-scale police operation aimed at increasing public safety for illegally staying in Cyprus.

The arrests came during checks on two buildings and 124 individuals in the walled city of Nicosia. The coordinated operation was carried out by police and other state services.

According to police, the operation was part of a broader initiative led by the justice minister and the deputy minister of migration.

Beyond the three arrests, officials found numerous violations linked to hygiene, safety and taxation laws.

Each department will now follow up on the issues that fall within their responsibilities.

Authorities said such checks will continue as part of ongoing efforts to ensure law and order in the capital.
