Nicosia police are investigating a case of arson after several cars caught fire in the early hours of Thursday morning.
According to police reports, the incident occurred shortly after 2am in the Acropolis area. Authorities were alerted when a fire broke out in vehicles parked at an apartment building.
Preliminary investigations show that two cars were severely damaged by the flames. Two additional vehicles parked nearby were also affected by fire and heat. The building’s masonry was reported to have sustained damage as well. The fire service quickly extinguished the blaze, preventing further destruction.
The Nicosia criminal investigation department (CID) is continuing its inquiry into the cause of the fire and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police have appealed to anyone with information about the case to come forward.
