Officials presented Nicosia’s events programme for the holiday season in Eleftheria Square this Friday.
Mayor Charalambos Prountzos, alongside the president of the cultural committee, Leoni Orphanidou and cultural officer, Maria Petsa, outlined the city’s festive vision.
The holiday season will commence on Sunday November 23, with the lighting of the Christmas tree in Eleftheria Square, accompanied by a major concert featuring the Greek band Stavento and Cypriot performer Ivi Adamou.
Mayor Prountzos emphasised the administration’s goal of creating “an open, bright and vibrant Nicosia,” welcoming residents and visitors to enjoy a city filled with “music, light, colour and festive experiences.”
He highlighted the municipality’s aim to offer inclusive events for all who visit the capital during the holiday period.
In Engomi, the Christmas festival and tree lighting will take place on November 29.
Ayios Dhometios will host its own celebrations on December 7 at the local chapel.
Aglandjia will mark its official celebration on December 19 with the lighting of Spyros Kyprianou Park.
The mayor also expressed gratitude to the sponsors supporting this year’s programme, those being Scaffolding Solutions, Kapnos Airport Shuttle, Tribar, Pilakoutas Group and the Bank of Cyprus.
With expanded events, neighbourhood celebrations and a focus on community engagement, Nicosia’s 2025 festive programme aims to transform the capital into a lively and memorable destination.
