A 50-year-old man was remanded in custody for seven days on Monday in connection with a robbery in Ayia Napa the previous day.

The suspect appeared before Famagusta District Court after he was arrested on Sunday afternoon, following evidence gathered by investigators.

The case concerns an incident on Saturday when a 20-year-old man was attacked while walking in the area at around 10pm.

The assailant, armed with a knife, stole money and a mobile phone.

The 20-year-old was taken by ambulance to Famagusta General Hospital, where he received treatment and was later discharged.

Investigations into the case are ongoing.
