Police carried out targeted operations across Cyprus on Monday night, making 13 arrests and issuing 336 traffic violation reports.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, police confirmed that 13 arrests involved offences including illegal residence in the republic, possession of a firearm, and driving under the influence of alcohol.

During the operations, 496 vehicles were stopped for inspection, while 593 drivers and passengers were checked.

Officers also carried out 39 inspections of premises, resulting in one report for breach of operating licence conditions.

Police said 336 traffic complaints were issued, including 138 for speeding.

A total of 53 alcohol tests were conducted, with one driver recording a final breathalyser reading of 95μg, above the legal limit of 22μg.

One person tested positive in a preliminary drug test and a total of four vehicles were seized as part of the checks.
