K-pop is a genre of popular music originating in South Korea, influenced by styles and genres from around the world, such as Pop, experimental, rock, jazz, gospel, hip hop, R&B, reggae, electronic dance, folk, country, and classical, on top of its traditional Korean music roots.

Since 2018, the biggest K-pop groups have made their way up the Billboard charts and the genre has seen a nearly 18-per cent revenue growth. But how did K-pop take the West by storm?
