Fifteen people were arrested late on Sunday in relation to a protest against coronavirus measures held in Limassol, including a man found with a gun.
Before the lift of the lockdown and the implementation of new restrictions on Monday, Limassolians organised a protest at Ayias Fylaxeos street opposing the government’s decisions.
Eleven people were arrested, charged in writing and then released before the beginning of the protest.
Demonstrators, surrounded by heavy police presence, were shouting slogans for personal freedom and demanded democracy to prevail on the island.
Another three people, aged 20, 21 and 29, were arrested after the protest was over. Six more people where fined for violating the coronavirus decrees, police said.
The arrests included a man who was carrying an air gun in his car which was spotted during a police traffic check.
