A group of parents protested outside the Ministry of Education on Thursday against the implementation of aspects of the health protocols in schools to combat the pandemic.

The protest was organised by Cyprus United Parents which suggest alternatives to rapid tests, such as taking a saliva sample which they say is not as invasive to children’s bodies.

“Children’s human rights must be respected in order to avoid discrimination and exclusion, as well as to respect the rights of free choice under the constitution of the Republic of Cyprus”.

The group also said the ministry overlooks studies they said indicate that there are substances in rapid tests which are dangerous to children’s health.

“The ministry and the government continue to ignore official figures, endangering society and our children,” they said.
