The CYENS Thinker Maker Space in old Nicosia presents a two-day experimental recording and sound design workshop this April in collaboration with Panagiotis Mina of Pyrgatory Studios.

A two-part workshop will take place on April 12 and 13 where participants will be introduced to the basics of recording and sound design using synthesizers, microphones, effects and items made at the CYENS Thinker Maker Space. The goal of this experimental hands-on process is to create new sounds and anyone can join, prior knowledge of the field or not.

Both workshop days will run from 3pm to 7.30pm. Day one will begin with a short presentation of Panagiotis work and studio and an introduction to sound design and sound synthesis techniques. Then Panagiotis will guide participants into recording, sampling and sample manipulation. The second and final workshop day will get practical with experimenting and recording with sound effects, creating a sound mix using a PC/DAW and will finally touch on sound visualisation – how to turn sound into a 3D printed object.
