Easter creations and crafty storytelling events are taking place at the Leventis Museum this month, with the first event on Saturday a creative workshop for children to make Easter beeswax candles decorated with crowns and swords.

Split into two sessions, a morning workshop from 11am to 12pm and an afternoon workshop from 3pm to 4pm, Saturday’s event invites children aged 5 to 12 to get crafty and create personalised Easter candles inspired by history. Along with museum educators, young participants will decorate their candles with crowns, just like the one Caterina Cornaro wore, or with swords, just like the one the knight of the Frankish Period holds. The sessions will be in Greek and parents are advised to make a reservation soon.

Then on April 16, another exciting event will take place at the museum, bringing to life more historical individuals. “Six personalities from the history of Cyprus are looking for their lost accessories in the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia and they need your help,” say organisers. “Join us to discover these lost items and if we succeed, they say that we may decorate eggs with them. And just like that, we will create Easter eggs with history!”

The event’s programme, lasting from 11am to 12.30pm, includes egg dyeing in the traditional way guided by the Higher Hotel Institute of Cyprus. This workshop is again addressed to children between 5 and 12 years old and also costs €10. All proceeds raised during the event will be donated to the Cyprus Red Cross Society – Nicosia Branch to support their ‘Easter Love Parcels & Coupons’ programme.
