The show that rocked Greek and Cypriot audiences returns for a limited number of performances in collaboration with Wherehaus 612 and Point To. The third round of 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche shows will premiere on January 6, and what is different this time is that some performances will have available subtitles in English.
The play by Andrew Hobgood and Evan Linder was presented for the first time in Greek, directed by Evita Ioannou, as part of theYard.Residency.21 programme of the MITOS Performing Arts Centre. The performance premiered in December 2021, with a sold out run of 35 shows in Limassol, Nicosia and Athens. Now, it is set to return to Nicosia’s Wherehaus 612 for a series of Monday performances. So far, January 13’s performance will welcome English-speaking audiences as well as it includes English surtitles.
The play is set in 1956 at the annual meeting of the Susan B Anthony Society of the Gertrude Stein Fraternity, which gathers in the basement of a church to hold a quiche competition. These women love quiche. They love quiche more than any other person in the history of the world who has ever loved quiche. “No men, no meat, only good behaviour,” is their motto. But when a nuclear explosion brings destruction to the outside world, the long-awaited competition is interrupted, the heroines are forced to confront their secrets and their sexual identities.
