A 32-year-old man was on Tuesday sentenced to three years in prison by the Famagusta district court.

He was sentenced after being found guilty of possessing a firearm, ammunition and cannabis.

The items were discovered in his home in Larnaca district during a police search in January 2024.

According to police, officers from the drug squad Ykan and Famagusta CID carried out the search on January 7, during which the operation.

Inside the house, police found a pistol with its magazine, 11 bullet casings, one blank cartridge and 111g of cannabis.

The suspect was immediately arrested. Following investigations, he was charged with drug possession with intent to supply, illegal possession of a firearm, and illegal possession of firearm ammunition.
